3 UNMISSABLE WHISKIES

- By ANGUS BURTON, founder of Spirit p People

1 Flóki three-year-old Single Malt by Eimverk, Iceland

Flóki is a paddock-to-bottle whiskey made with hardy Icelandic barley that brings more flavour than Scottish or European malt. This young bottling really showcases the nuttiness of the malt and gets a big thumbs-up. $160 for 500ml, sigrunwhisky.com

2 Oat Whisky by Belgrove distillery, Tasmania

Another dram from estate-grown grain, this is a unique and rare whiskey from Belgrove. It’s distilled by direct fire, which gives the bold and creamy spirit a more palate-drenching flavour. $250 for 500ml, belgrovedistillery.com.au

3 Edition Sigel by Säntis Malt, Switzerland

Säntis is a distillery within a historic 130-year-old brewery. They age whiskey in ex-beer barrels that lend malt and hop character to the spirit. The Edition Sigel is a bold but elegant whiskey – all cacao, vanilla and fruitcake. $150 for 700ml, spirit-people.net
