Ear­lier this year, Ital­ian eyewear gi­ant Car­rera launched its lat­est cam­paign. But rather than fea­tur­ing bikini-clad mod­els loung­ing by the pool or sun-kissed in­flu­encers en­joy­ing a day at the beach, the brand wanted to go for some­thing a lit­tle more poignant. En­ti­tled #Drivey­ourstory, the cam­paign fea­tures three real in­di­vid­u­als who have over­come per­sonal set­backs and forged their own paths: an Olympic ath­lete, a refugee turned model, and a record-break­ing mo­tor­bike racer whose pas­sion for rid­ing al­most cost him his life. With the cam­paign launch­ing to co­in­cide with the ar­rival of Car­rera’s lat­est SS18 col­lec­tion, the trio rep­re­sents not just the tri­umph of the hu­man spirit, but the fear­less at­ti­tude of the brand it­self.
