BEHIND THE SCENES

FROM A STUDIO TO AN MMA GYM – WE’VE TRAVELLED FAR AND WI DE THIS ISSUE.

GQ (Australia) - - ONLINE -

very November, we spread ourselves across the country in the name of GQ Men of the Year. Travelling to the hometowns and creative domains of the men and women honoured with a MOTY award, we seek to fill the pages of this magazine with profiles of those who have, in their own unique ways, made a profound impact on 2018. This time around, we flew to Europe with Elizabeth Debicki and to LA with Lucky Blue Smith. We entered the ring with Australia’s most successful UFC fighter, Robert Whittaker, albeit nervously, during a training session at his local Jiu-jitsu gym in Sydney’s west. Days before the opening of his latest solo show, artist Jamie Preisz let us in on his creative process and the raw emotion that drives it, as he showed us through his loft studio. And yes, Body Hack’s Todd Sampson is as fascinating in person as he is on TV. An unflattering bloopers reel and 20 profiles later, we bring you our 2018 Men (and Women) of the Year.
