UP to 200 of Perth’s homeless will receive a better feed on Thursday nights, with a CBD Woolworths lending a helping hand to Street Friends.

Woolworths St Georges Terrace will provide weekly food donations to the organisation, provide a sausage sizzle and collect food and clothing donations in-store.

Street Friends founder Michelle Dunlop said until Woolworths came on board, volunteers often provided the food themselves.

“We have roughly 200 people coming down to meet the Street Friends for a meal and clothing every Thursday night,” she said.

“Prior to our partnership with Woolworths, our volunteers were personally buying extra food to supplement the donations we received from local bakeries and other not-for-profits.”

Store manager Ricky Spring said the team was happy to help.

He also encouraged customers to donate food and clothing into the donation bins at the front of the store.
