Boy charged

Po­lice have charged a 16year-old boy over an in­ci­dent in which a po­lice of­fi­cer was se­ri­ously in­jured on Wed­nes­day evening.

About 7.10pm on Novem­ber 28 po­lice were called to Welling­ton Square in East Perth.

A po­lice of­fi­cer was talk­ing to sev­eral peo­ple when it is al­leged the boy as­saulted the of­fi­cer.

He was taken to Royal Perth Hos­pi­tal with se­ri­ous in­juries, but has since been re­leased.

A 16-year-old boy from New­man was charged with as­sault­ing a pub­lic of­fi­cer (pre­scribed cir­cum­stances, ju­ve­nile) and breach of a bail un­der­tak­ing.

He ap­peared in Perth Chil­dren’s Court last week.
