New Year as­sault

PERTH De­tec­tives are look­ing for in­for­ma­tion about an as­sault that oc­curred early on New Year’s Day.

About 1.20am on Tues­day, Jan­uary 1, a group of four women and two men were walk­ing along Mounts Bay Road when they were ap­proached by an­other group of four to five peo­ple walk­ing in the other di­rec­tion.

An altercation oc­curred, leav­ing all six mem­bers of the first group with in­juries and re­quir­ing treat­ment at Royal Perth Hos­pi­tal.

A 60-year-old woman was knocked un­con­scious, re­ceived a black eye and hit her head on the road, a 26year-old woman was knocked un­con­scious, broke her col­lar­bone and re­quired su­tures to the back of her head, and the other four peo­ple re­ceived mi­nor in­juries.

Po­lice at­tended the scene and took two men into cus­tody.
