This G major Pentatonic-based solo features a few pedal-steel type double stops and bends. You’ll hear this kind of playing in Lyin’ Eyes, Take It Easy and Tequila Sunrise. The overall feel is quite relaxed, but we’re moving around the fretboard a fair bit here. Take your time and work through this, ear-marking any problem areas, then rehearsing them slowly. If anything this solo is a little on the ‘busy’ side, as I wanted to squeeze in as many ideas as possible. Playing nothing for a bar can be just as viable in a good solo – and all the Eagles’ guitarists excelled at creating space and dynamics.
