Fleetwood Mac’s self-titled debut and follow-up Mr Wonderful were filled with rocky takes on blues classic, heartfelt playing from Peter Green on slower blues numbers (with his famous ‘out-of-phase’ tone), and Elmore James-style slide and ‘mock and roll’ frivolity from Jeremy Spencer. Then Play On saw the introduction of Danny Kirwan’s unique guitar voice, but was the last to feature Green.
