Approach notes can be observed in trad and Dixieland jazz where the harmonies are straightforward and the examples not too fast. The music will tend to swing (eight-notes sounding like ‘broken triplets’), so to adapt any examples to a more modern setting, straighten out the rhythm as even eighth-notes for a Latin sound, or as even 16th-notes in styles such as funk and jazz-fusion.
