Spinefarm ✪✪✪✪✪

Though fully under the wings of the metal community, the mysterious, masked and openly devilish Swedes are in fact a ludicrously catchy hard rock act whose sensibilities often fall headlong into full-blown histrionics. Though starting a little grittier than last effort, Meliora, Prequelle again finds itself in that unashamedly bombastic pop territory with the jangly riffs of the Nameless Ghouls – whoever they are this time around is anyone’s guess – often taking a backseat. Yet when the guitars get their time to shine they lay the foundation for the explosion of See The Light’s rapturous chorus and groove through the deliriously effervescent Witch Image.
