FOURTH-FINGER BENDS
Brett has a wonderful string bending technique that is flexible enough to cover all his various playing requirements. Here he is performing a tone string bend on the third string using his fourth finger with all other fingers behind it for support (fourth-finger-only bends are tough going, especially if using .011 gauge strings as Brett does.). The ‘baseball bat’ clench where the thumb sits over the fretboard is common for big bends and/or for fourth-finger bends, not least because it provides the strongest leverage for a bend.
