This will work on nylon or steel strings, but steel is more popular due to brighter tone. If you are plugging in and have a basic piezo pickup that doesn’t ‘pick up’ the whole body, an additional mic or soundhole pickup will improve things. But if you are new to these techniques start acoustically to see how you get on; only then think about investing in gear!
