For most of this series, we’ve been adding notes or completely replacing chords. It’s all about 'tonal colours’ – even outside of the mysterious world of synaesthesia, it’s common to use visual analogies to describe musical sounds. But often you already have all the harmonic information you need, and there’s still plenty of tonal colour available in the standard chords.
