CD TRACK 50
[Bars 1-6] We begin with a series of drop chord voicings before a palm-muted single-note riff introduces the main chord progression. You might want to practise Em7 each chord in isolation before playing them in quick succession.
[Bars 7-10] Here’s the main chord progression Em7 ( I-IV-VI-II-V in the key of E Minor). A flutter chord, double-stops, and sliding arpeggios set the mood.
[Bars 11-14] Continuing in the same vein, here we combine another flutter chord, double-stops, drop 2 and Diminished chords. For the descending Em7 arpeggio, use a single upstroke to aid fluidity.
[Bars 15-18] The opening lick here uses Em Pentatonic (E-G-A-B-D), while the other lines use arpeggios that draw more on Spanky’s jazz influence.
