Fractal’s amp modelling is highly regarded and its AX8 (€1,599) puts Axe-FX II amps and effects into a self-contained, rugged, stage-ready pedalboard that offers 512 presets featuring a traditional single amp plus effects chain, as opposed to the AxeFXII’s dual amp chain capability. If it’s just effects you’re after, the FX8 MkII (€1,199) may fit the bill. If your budget doesn’t stretch but you fancy some Line 6 action, there’s still the POD HD500X, which can currently be had for a street price around £370.
