Their Satanic Majesties Request (50th Anniversary) ABKCO Music
Stones for the stoned Often dismissed as fad-chasing psychedelic folly, this 50th anniversary edition of Their Satanic Majesties Request is an unexpected pleasure. Though heavy with lysergic daftness there are some overlooked gems here. The haunted harpsichords and tremolo-washed vocals of In Another Land are a rather Nigel Tufnel-esque pastiche of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, but
Citadel and 2000 Light Years From Home are much stronger, their footloose psych-rock offering a more heady, exotic vision of the Stones’ sound than you’ll find elsewhere. Groovy. [JD] Standout track: Citadel For fans of: Early Pink Floyd, Jonathan Wilson
