THE RIVALS

Guitarist - - Review -

Martin doesn’t offer an equivalent electro cutaway at this price but the OMC-35E, at £3,199, Orchestra-size with Sitka spruce top and East Indian rosewood, gets you in the ballpark. It’s powered by Fishman’s Aura VT Enhance electronics.

How about a Lowden Pierre Bensusan Signature (approximately £5,500)? A typically superb sounding build that includes an armrest, Adirondack spruce top, and Honduras rosewood back and sides, but a pickup will cost more.

PRS’s small number Private Stock acoustics are hand-built to order (from £9,295) and are highly coveted by those that can afford‘em.They use a hybrid X/classical style bracing for a subtly different voice beloved by signature artists Martin Simpson, Tony McManus and Alex Lifeson.
