REDEMPTION

Taking elements of the blues and putting them in a harder rock context with a bit of Americana thrown in is something Joe does well. Of course, this means lashings of pentatonic! However, on tracks such as Molly O, you can hear this also includes hints of minor scale. Self-Inflicted Wounds takes this further – and it’s worth comparing it with Joe’s approach on Just Cos You Can…, which is far more pentatonic, giving a more traditional blues feel.
