2016 YERING STATION YARRA VALLEY PINOT NOIR

Halliday - Supplement - - Pinot Noir & Nebbiolo Red Hot & Rated -

RRP $40 / 2026

Get a smell of this. This draws you straight in, the nose so exquisitely turned out, the palate following straight on, the finish letting no one down. Undergrowth, spice notes, cherries, plums, folds of satin, wafts of wood smoke. Oak certainly contributes here, but the fruit has its back. One highly seductive pinot noir. CM 13.4% alc. I particularly love making pinot noir because of its fickle and delicate nature. The 2016 vintage was challenging in having to wait for flavour; it tested your nerve. Handpicked, cold-soaked and gently handled, it spent 11 months in 500-litre French oak harmonising flavour, texture and balance. This wine is a true reflection of site and vintage.
