2019 MAYGARS HILL RESERVE CABERNET SAUVIGNON

A distinctive cabernet described by the maker as an ‘elegant’ version of the standard cabernet, with a percentage of whole bunches added to the ferment. Matured in American and French oak for 16 months, it has slurped up the oak, retaining a cedary sheen. A deep, dark world of violets, cassis, briar and wild forest berries. Light savouriness on the palate. Supple and, yes, elegant. Bring out the decanter with this one. JP 13% alc.

What’s special about this wine, and when do you believe it will be at its peak for drinking?

The elegant fruit of 2019 was judiciously matched with the perfect style of oak. This is integrating beautifully with time. We would recommend sampling a bottle every year or so as the wine will develop progressively, so make sure you have enough of this one on hand.
