2019 WOOD PARK RESERVE ZINFANDEL, KING VALLEY
Matured in American oak for 26 months. Shares the same DNA as primitivo and is definitely a hard one to understand. John Stokes does a mighty job taming the alcohol richness while elevating fruit intense in blackberry, cinnamon, chocolate, panforte and fivespice. It’s a generous wine, but beautifully trimmed in savoury, ripe tannins. Runs long in the mouth. JP 14.5% alc.

Tell us something interesting about this wine? I was asked to make wine for a local grape grower which started my love affair with this variety. I planted zinfandel in our vineyard and began only making wine from the very best fruit. It’s since been served in Qantas First Class and has developed a cult following.
