Yarra Yering

YARRA VALLEY, VICTORIA

-

Established in 1969, Yarra Yering is one of the oldest and most beautiful vineyards in the Yarra Valley, with 28ha of vines. In 1973, founder Dr Bailey Carrodus released the first commercial vintages in the region since 1923, the Dry Red Wine No. 1 and No. 2. Today, winemaker Sarah Crowe continues to produce these acclaimed, iconic blends in honour of Dr Carrodus.

How should we enjoy these wines this season? The Carrodus Cabernet Sauvignon pairs beautifully with venison pan-seared with a wild thyme and blueberry sauce. We love the Dry Red Wine No. 1 with lamb, try it with a 12-hour slow roasted shoulder. And finally, we recommend the Underhill with veal cutlets with an orange hazelnut crust.

What wine are you most excited about? Our best kept secret has to be our New Territories Shiraz Touriga. The 2021 vintage has just been released in tiny quantities, available through our cellar door only. Violet perfume, juicy red fruits, berries, plums and a hint of aniseed. Fleshy, intriguing and spicy.
