GERMANY Von Buhl might be making more of a splash with its fizz these days, but its rieslings continue to impress too. Versatile with food yet elegant enough as an aperitif, this village-level riesling comes from one of Germany’s more southerly and therefore warmer regions, the Pfalz. Even so, this riesling retains that pure-lime zing and piercingly fresh and satisfying orchard-fruit crunch, making this a fabulous wine gift, value-wise.
