2017 Bay of Fires Eddystone Point Pinot Noir

-

This deeply coloured, full-bodied pinot is a serial winner of gold medals. It might seem that the judges were simply reacting to power and not varietal character – that isn’t the case. Yes, the wine needs years to reach its zenith, but it will do so in 10-plus years, when a parade of exotic spices will march in step with the dark cherry and plum fruit. It calls to mind the wines of Pommard in Burgundy. 13.5% alc. RRP $31 / 2032 / Bay of Fires bayoffireswines.com.au
