2017 Kelman Semillon

-

Winemaker: Jeff Byrne The fruit for this wine was sourced from the Kelman Vineyard in the Hunter Valley. It has a long and intense palate with lemon and lime juice flavours, and a slight kaffir lime note. It is well balanced with a fresh, crisp finish.

What do you look for in your semillon? We look for the fresh, bright fruit characteristics of Hunter Valley semillon: citrus lemon and lime with hints of green apple notes. As young wines, they are very delicate with a crisp acidity at the end, while as they age they develop more complex, creamy, toasted notes adding richness and weight to the palate.

How should we enjoy semillon this season?

Some people believe you can’t enjoy a Hunter Valley semillon unless it’s five years old or more, which isn’t the case. Young, fresh semillon is perfect over summer and perfectly matches with light dishes such as fresh oysters and seafood.
