TASTING NOTES BY DANIEL HONAN
2018 Silkman Reserve Semillon
Typical pale grass tincture, fragrant lemons and lemongrass notes framed around a green-apple crunch. Classic, star-bright and firm with wonderful, mouthwateringly citric acidity of line and length.
11% alc, $50
2018 Hungerford Hill Preservative Free Semillon
Grassy, hay-bale tinted. Slightly opaque. Vivid lemon-butter nose, golden apples and chanterelle mushrooms. Vibrant limes and lemonades, hints of pear and tonic water too, framed by a soft, nearly waxy texture.
12.5% alc, $27
2017 Charlotte Dalton Ærkeengel
Sun-bleached straw. Honeysuckles flecked with honey, apple blossom, yuzu lemon and lime zest. Saline. Grapefruit. White peach. Fine yet round, with a talc-like texture and finish.
11.3% alc, $42
2016 Cullen Mangan Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Semillon
Faded hay-bale yellow, herbaceous and grassy, tropical citrus and chalky. Ever-so slightly oaky. Sweet honeysuckle florals with orange and apple-blossom. Harmony from the lively tartness of crunchy pineapple and fresh lemon zest.
13% alc, $32
2018 Smallfry Wines Barossa Tangerine Dream
Foggy orange with flashes of amber and layers of energy, zing and funk. Bruised yellow and orange citrus peel, nutty, ripe stonefruit, ginger, all-spice, and spring florals. Crazy, novel, and quite possibly habit-forming.
12% alc, $32
