HOW YOU CAN HELP

-

The severe downturn in tourism and trade over the holiday and new year period has impacted so many in and around the affected regions. The key message from all those involved is for people to plan trips to these places, spend time and money there, and bring back some cashflow to the wider communities. “For anyone who wants to help, we are asking people to buy New South Wales wine, and to come and visit us. That’s how we can get the most benefits,” Angus Barnes says.

Buying wine direct from the relevant wineries, where possible, is another effective way of assisting in recovery. “Be a bit choosy about what wines you buy from where, and look to help that way,” Tony Battaglene says. “That’s the best support you can give.”

Among the affected Adelaide Hills wineries are Vinteloper, which sells its wines at nearby venue Lot. 100, as well as Henschke, Golding Wines, Tomich Wines, Barristers Block Wines, Nova Vita Wines, New Era Vineyards, Anderson Hill Wines, Bird in Hand, Artwine, Turon Wines, Tilbrook Estate, Emmeline Wines, Callum Beal, Geoff Weaver and Riposte Wines, as well as so many other growers.

A range of fundraisers are in place, including the Adelaide Hills Wine Region Bushfire Appeal. Also keep an eye out for auctions and other events held by wine companies and venues to raise money for the various worthy associations, such as the state-based fire services, wildlife causes and other registered charities.
