What is value when it comes to wine? And what makes a wine good value?

For some, it’s about those elusive releases that punch well above their price. For others, it’s all about the enjoyment a wine brings, regardless of its cost. As we discover in this issue, like almost everything else in the world of wine, value is a very subjective thing.

Inside, wine writer Katie Spain asks various producers how they define value, and Jane Faulkner suggests some wines that offer a taste of the greats for less – consider it a cheat’s guide to the icons. The Tasting Team also shares their best-ever value wines, and UK wine authority Jane Parkinson highlights a dozen top internatio­nal releases that over-deliver.

It was 10 years ago that we launched this magazine, and it’s been an immense privilege to since work so closely with James, the team past and present, and the people in wine to bring you this publicatio­n.

As always, I hope you find plenty of wine inspiratio­n in this issue to share with family and friends. I always liked to think we were giving you the insider knowledge to pass off as your own, so hopefully we’ve helped you get to know – and love – wine that little bit more.
