Halliday

Allow me to introduce myself.

- Anna Webster

To this edition – it’s our annual cellaring issue! As well as giving you some practical advice and tips on wine selection and storage, James Halliday shares everything he’s personally learned about the subject over the years. Our Tasting Team also relive their worst-ever cellaring disasters. Ned Goodwin MW’s and Dave Brookes’ recollections are particularly nauseating!

If you’re looking for advice on specific wines to add to your collection, wine writer Ken Gargett has compiled a (possibly controversial) list of the best Australian wines of all time. Leanne Altmann, Beverage Director at Trader House Group, also shares her tips on serving an old wine. To decant or not to decant? That is the question.

Also inside, Erin Larkin shows us that there’s more to WA than Margaret River, and Cathy

Gowdie explores the country’s shiraz revolution. Wine writer Lisa Cardelli also addresses a very important topic – accessibility in wine and hospitality for the disabled. While these industries are beginning to address the needs of the disabled, Lisa points out that there’s still a way to go.

Cheers,

Hi – I’m the new editor of Halliday magazine. If you read our last issue (or follow us on social media) you’ll already know that founding editor Amelia Ball has moved on. I promise to do her legacy justice by continuing to bring you news and stories from the wonderful world of wine.

With the change in editorship, we thought it was a good opportunity to hear from you. What are we doing well? What can we do better? We’d love it if you could spare a few moments to answer our reader survey on the facing page.
