2020 Kilikanoon Wines Ashton 1920 Mataro, Clare Valley

The Ashton vineyard was planted in 1920 and this is a centenary release. Mataro: what a glorious variety. Blood plums and red dirt, earth and berries; it is at once savoury and sweet, always plush, and often relied upon in a blend to provide a stable, plush base of tannins and dense fruit, as it does in this varietal wine.
