Katie Spain’s ‘Reflection­s on Value’ piece in your last edition (April/May) really got me thinking. It’s so easy to associate value with price when it’s as much, if not more, about the overall experience. And really, when we look at the cost of making wine, the time and the expertise and everything else that goes into it, it’s amazing that it’s not more expensive! Having said that, I really appreciate­d the story that ran after it, Jane Faulkner’s ‘Icon Envy’. While I do understand the cost of wine it is nice to know there are some more affordable options for us “ordinary folk”.
