2017 Le Macchiole Paleo Rosso

97 A small domaine in Bolgheri with a bit of a cult following, this pure cabernet franc – even in a slightly challenging year – has come up trumps in fragrance alone. High toned; herbal, fresh and spicy with cedar, it’s a great introduction to the fragrant palate. Even so, the undetected high proportion of new oak demonstrates just how expertly this wine has been honed and crafted.
