2016 Castello dei Rampolla Vigna d’Alceo

96 A biodynamically farmed blend of 85% cabernet sauvignon with 15% petit verdot. The keyword for this wine (vintage after vintage, as it happens) is richness. Never one to shy away from the intense black fruit concentration, and yet produced with such care it develops into a smoky, tobacco, bright, almost minty, wine with a tight hold on the tannins shoring up its potential to age very well for the next decade or two.
