Hand picked and whole-bunch pressed to French puncheons (20% new) for fermentation and 10 months’ maturation, then matured another 6 months in tank. Rightfully considered one of the great wines of Australia, this brilliant wine – from a cooler year – is another superb rendition. A bright green gold, expect aromas of lemon and pink grapefruit pith, freshly baked ginger-spice biscuits from the beautifully handled and integrated oak as well as jasmine, freshly laundered linen, wet stone and a hint of gunflint. Like many great wines, this balances power and delicacy in equal measure. There’s a refreshing limoncello bitterness on the long, super-satisfying finish. PR 13.5% alc.
