2020 bakkheia The Wonderful Miss Gerry Preston Valley Grenache, Geographe

100% grenache from a single vineyard in the Preston Valley. 973 bottles made. Unfined/ unfiltered. Wild yeast. Matured for 6 months in 4–6yo French oak. This has incredible intensity of flavour. There is blood and plum (distinct from blood plums), graphite and rocks. Star anise, licorice and aniseed, with bacon fat, maple and raspberry humbugs. A touch of stewed rhubarb, red apples and black tea. There’s nori and black sesame in there too.

It’s all there. The concentration is a marvel, actually. The first thing I said when I put this in my mouth was ‘wow’. EL 15.1% alc.
