The subtle lip staple gets a reset.

The neutral lip is always on trend.this season, your favourite creamy matts are joined by formulas with a refined hit of sparkle. Here, how to get it right. FIND YOUR PERFECT SHADE: The key is to pick a colour that’s close to your skin tone but doesn’t match it exactly. For example, models on the S/S 2018 runways at Tom Ford and Prabal Gurung wore rosetinged nudes. Go for something with a hint of peach or pink to it, says makeup artist Ricky Wilson, adding that the look will remain sophisticated if you choose formulas with a metallic — rather than an overtly glittery — finish. FIRST STEP: Line your lips with pencil to define the shape and extend the wear of whatever gets placed on top. TEXTURE TRICKS: Makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes is a fan of semisheer formulas “because your natural lip colour comes through,” she says. When you do go for more opaque textures, steer clear of anything with too much white in it, which can look chalky. WEAR WITH: Matt skin and minimal eye makeup. “Have the lip be the focus,” Hughes says.
