Lee and O’don­nell met dur­ing that great ro­mancekin­dling ac­tiv­ity, buy­ing gro­ceries.“it was at an or­ganic fruit and veg shop, when we both found our­selves in front of the rain­bow chard,” Lee re­calls.“i was fas­ci­nated with the colours of the stems and Ted said we should cook some­thing up with our ve­g­ies that week, and we ended up do­ing that.” Seven years later, the artist (Lee) and pho­tog­ra­pher/di­rec­tor (O’don­nell) col­lab­o­rate on all man­ner of projects, of which the great­est is rais­ing their two daugh­ters.“the en­ergy she has for our kids is in­cred­i­ble,” O’don­nell says.“they are so lucky.”while O’don­nell works mainly in ad­ver­tis­ing and Lee’s prac­tice is em­bed­ded in the art world, the pair has lately been work­ing more closely on per­sonal projects. “I throw paint around and he lights and shoots it,” Lee says, laugh­ing. “We have quite clear sep­a­rate roles.”
