Reckless driving charges in Wagerup
POLICE have issued a warning to motorists to obey speed limits after clocking a driver travelling more than 50kmh over the limit in a roadworks zone.
A 46- year- old Perth man is facing a reckless driving charge after Waroona officers detected his vehicle allegedly travelling at 111kmh in a 60kmh zone on a section of South Western Highway under- going roadworks in Wagerup.
Waroona police First Class Const. David Swain warned drivers to obey the limits signposted in roadworks zones.
“For the next few months there are going to be roadworks along that stretch of road in Waroona and Yarloop and as a result there is a change in the speed limit,” Const. Swain said.
“The sign- posted roadworks speed limit will be enforced to the full extent.
“This is for the safety of other motorists and the safety of the people conducting the roadworks.”
Const. Swain hoped motorists would keep in mind the wellbeing of the workers out doing their day job.
“They’d like to go home safely at the end of the day too,” he said.
