A MOTHER and her children had a lucky escape after a car slammed into their Australind house while they were home on Thursday.

The male driver of the Holden Commodore allegedly lost control on Latour Street about 4pm before leaving the road, missing a power pole, slamming into a box trailer and then a front room of the house.

The driver and the family home at the time were not injured in the incident, but the house was signif- icantly damaged. South West police are investigating the incident and a 29-year-old Australind man has been charged. He will face Bunbury Magistrates Court at a later date over charges of damage and reckless driving.
