Teen Goodwin sensational for Colts
Leschenault were rolled for 96 in Saturday’s eight-wicket home loss to Colts, with a 16-yearold causing the bulk of the damage.
Jayden Goodwin, who has just returned home from skippering WA at the under-17 male national championships in Queensland, took 5/10 off an unforgettable seven-over spell which also included three maidens.
Goodwin then joined his father Murray in securing the winning runs, with the visitors reaching 2/99 off only 28.3 overs.
The hosts struggled early, with their top order unable to generate starts.
Aside from Steven Denison (24 off 29 balls), no other player was able to subdue the Colts’ bowling attack for long enough.
Once Goodwin removed Denison via a Cruize Ciallella catch, the home side lost 6/17, with five of those dismissals under double figures.
In the chase, Colts lost two early wickets en route to their target of 99, with the Goodwin duo eventually seeing out the innings by mid-afternoon.
