Last week, the bi­monthly Waroona In­ter­a­gency Group meet­ing was held at the Waroona Com­mu­nity Re­source Cen­tre. There was a great at­ten­dance of 29 mem­bers, rep­re­sent­ing a va­ri­ety of govern­ment agen­cies, com­mu­nity or­gan­i­sa­tions and health ser­vice providers, who pro­vided an in­sight into their roles and or­gan­i­sa­tions. The team from East Met­ro­pol­i­tan Health Ser­vice pro­vided a pre­sen­ta­tion on their new pro­gram “Yarn It Up – Don’t Smoke It Up”, fol­lowed by Peel De­vel­op­ment Com­mis­sion who pro­vided an overview of the Re­gional Eco­nomic De­vel­op­ment Pro­gram and Build­ing Bet­ter Re­gions Fund. Fol­low­ing the pre­sen­ta­tions, the group took the op­por­tu­nity to net­work and ac­cess sup­port to work to­wards the com­mon goals of de­liv­er­ing com­mu­nity ser­vices and ad­dress­ing is­sues around com­mu­nity safety and well­be­ing. Waroona In­ter­a­gency Group now boasts a database over 70 rep­re­sen­ta­tives from over 50 stake­hold­ers in­clud­ing lo­cal gov­ern­ments, govern­ment agen­cies, health ser­vice providers and com­mu­nity or­gan­i­sa­tions. The next meet­ing will be held on Tues­day, 11th December at the Waroona Com­mu­nity Re­source Cen­tre.
