All SW roads lead to Bunbury network
Business owners from across the South West flocked to an information session in Bunbury last week in a bid to tap into the region’s road works.
The Main Roads WA’s Southern Network Contract was the focus of the information session held at Quality Lighthouse Resort where about 180 people discovered what opportunities were available.
The contract will deliver routine and planned road highway maintenance services and minor capital works projects across the South West, Great Southern and Peel regions.
Fulton Hogan has been announced as the preferred tenderer and anticipates involvement from small and medium businesses from a variety of industries in delivering the contract.
South West Development Commission principal local content adviser Carly Anderson said connecting local businesses to regional contracting opportunities was a focus area in a local content program.
“Information and networking sessions like the one presented on Tuesday provide an opportunity for local businesses to find out more about contract and supply opportunities,” Ms Anderson said.
“Feedback has been that it was a good opportunity to make initial contact with Fulton Hogan and understand what might be required to supply to them under the Southern Network Contract.
“The South West Development Commission has a strong commitment to diversifying the region’s economic base, supporting the growth of business and entrepreneurship and the ability for local businesses to engage in government supply opportunities such as this.”
Representatives from Main Roads, Fulton Hogan, IPS Business Advisory and Peel Development Commission also attended the session.
Businesses can still discover the opportunities available by contacting Ms Anderson at the South West Development Commission.
Fulton Hogan southern network contract performance and commercial manager Bill Berry, South West Development Commission principal local content adviser Carly Anderson, Peel Development Commission local content adviser Tahlia Jones and Fulton Hogan systems manager Paul Westbury take a break at the information session to discuss opportunities.
