The Harvey Early Years Network held a Snugglepot and Cuddlepie Centenary celebration on Thursday 15th November at Stirling Cottage Gardens. The weather was perfect and the gardens were stunning for this community event attended by 200 children aged 0-6 years. The theme for this year was literacy, encouraging reading with storytelling and gumnut activities provided by schools, family agencies and service providers. Shire of Harvey Principal Librarian, Ruth Campbell-Hicks, read Snugglepot and Cuddlepie stories and Ricky Possum entertained the audience with bush stories. An Auslan Interpreter accompanied the story telling for those that may need the service and to raise awareness of disability, access and inclusion. The Shire of Harvey also provided fresh fruit and sunscreen for attendees.
