Expect extra police presence
With tourists set to flock to and through our region, Waroona police urged people to behave responsibly and safely, especially on the road.
Waroona police officer-in-charge Acting Sgt Taryn Bowie said Christmas was always a busy time for officers due to holiday makers travelling south.
“We’ve had some pretty horrible crashes on South Western Highway already which makes the message to stay safe even more important,” Acting Sgt Bowie said.
“We want everyone to have a safe holiday season so slow down, pay attention and don’t drink and drive.”
He said Waroona Dam was a hotspot for holiday makers and was familiar call out for police.
“People also need to remember that Waroona Dam is private property and they can be kicked off if they’re misbehaving,” she said.
“Respect yourself and your neighbours and everyone will have a good time.”
Acting Sgt Bowie said people could expect to see police out in force conducting random breath tests and targeting speeding.
