Calendar boost for arts
The Harvey and Waroona visitor centres have joined forces to create a shared arts hub calendar for local artists, community members and tourists.
Harvey centre manager Gemma Longford said the creation of the hub would allow artists to be showcased on a bigger platform.
“It will be a fantastic resource that will be available to local artists and creators to develop a resource for tourists who come to our area and want to learn what’s on offer,” Mrs Longford said.
“This is a great way for the Harvey Visitor Centre to support our talented local creators.”
Mrs Longford said the idea was to create a one-stop shop for arts events in the region.
“It’s a great opportunity and we strongly encourage people to take advantage of the arts calendar that we have complied.
“When visitors travel to the area, whether they stay for one day or two weeks, they will have a really clear idea of the kinds of courses they can enrol in, the kinds of art galleries that are available and any open studios or workshops.”
The hub officially started in November and Mrs Longford said she was keen to get more people involved to fill out the calendar.
“We have so many talented artists, we saw a need to support them and also to promote the amazing region that we live in,” she said.
“If anyone knows of anything arts related that they would like included in the calendar we would love to hear from them. We would also love to hear from local artists.”
