5 LUS­CIOUS WAYS WITH RIPE PEARS

1 Bake sweet chips: Slice pears very thinly (with ei­ther a knife or man­do­line) and ar­range on a bak­ing tray in a sin­gle layer. Sprin­kle slices with cin­na­mon and bake at 200°C for 20 min­utes, or un­til dried and crisp. En­joy th­ese chips on their own or as part of a cheese plat­ter.

2 Toss a sum­mer salad: Com­bine pear with poached-chicken strips, rocket, wal­nuts and blue cheese.

3 Freeze fruity pops: Blitz pieces of pear in a blender with ba­nana, berries and wa­ter­melon (or what­ever fruit you have on hand) un­til smooth. Pour purée into ice­block moulds and freeze for 6 hours, or un­til firm.

4 Snack fresh: Dip pear slices into low-fat Greek-style yo­ghurt for a sat­is­fy­ing af­ter­noon snack.

5 Roast your fruit: Driz­zle pear wedges with olive oil and bal­samic vine­gar. Roast wedges for 20 min­utes, or un­til sticky and golden. Serve this caramelise­d fruit with baked ri­cotta, or as a side with pork or lamb.
