5 LUSCIOUS WAYS WITH RIPE PEARS
1 Bake sweet chips: Slice pears very thinly (with either a knife or mandoline) and arrange on a baking tray in a single layer. Sprinkle slices with cinnamon and bake at 200°C for 20 minutes, or until dried and crisp. Enjoy these chips on their own or as part of a cheese platter.
2 Toss a summer salad: Combine pear with poached-chicken strips, rocket, walnuts and blue cheese.
3 Freeze fruity pops: Blitz pieces of pear in a blender with banana, berries and watermelon (or whatever fruit you have on hand) until smooth. Pour purée into iceblock moulds and freeze for 6 hours, or until firm.
4 Snack fresh: Dip pear slices into low-fat Greek-style yoghurt for a satisfying afternoon snack.
5 Roast your fruit: Drizzle pear wedges with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Roast wedges for 20 minutes, or until sticky and golden. Serve this caramelised fruit with baked ricotta, or as a side with pork or lamb.
