Although they get a bad rap, potatoes can cer­tainly be part of a healthy diet. Strik­ing the ideal bal­ance comes down to the pro­por­tion of potatoes in a meal. Aim for oven-baked potatoes or wedges to take up only a quar­ter of your plate. That leaves plenty of room for a lit­tle lean pro­tein — for ex­am­ple, grilled meat, chicken or seafood — and, of course, lots of colour­ful vegies like broc­coli, car­rot and cauliflowe­r.
