Hepburn

Letter from the Editor

- Jacqueline Hodges

Hello and welcome to the Dauntless Edition of Hepburn. We women will be forever indebted to our female forebearers, to the suffragettes, the pioneers in the country that pathed the way for women’s rights. It is because of the actions of these women, we are free to vote, to own property, to be education, to speak up for ourselves.

We also celebrate our second birthday this month. In our Hepburn in Conversation series we invited Lauren Sherson back speak with us and find out how here endeavours have changed over the last two years. She stands as a role model for women who find their passion, find their goal, and take action to pursue their dreams.

As always our in house team brings you exciting articles to read. We consider Taking on Too Much, explore the benefits of Bringing Your Dog to Work, and we revisit Business Strategy. We share our Q&A with Sallyanne Astille founder of the eponymous Astille label, and with Abundance in mind we invited Estate Planning specialist Chris Herrald to share The Best Estate Planning Tool.

Our Business Book Review section features From Passion to Leadership, an anthology collated by Cathryn Mora. We also invite you to Escape to the Kangaroo Island, encourage you to try Kiteboarding, and inspire you to find an activity with our seven options in Break Out Your Dancing Shoes.

With the theme of dauntless in mind, we feature women who have inspired us in many ways and hope they will inspire you too! In our Influential Women in Leadership we feature former Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party Julie Bishop, a woman who stood up to be counted. Our Amazing Australian Women is Emma Gierschick OAM, and our Aspiring Australian Women is Tina Haywood.

We also remember the dauntless Rose Scott, who pathed the way for women’s rights in Australia.

Each of these women are amazing in their own right and our stories provide a small glimpse into their triumphs, their courage, and how their actions forged a pathway for others to follow. We will be sharing these stories on our YouTube and podcast channels shortly.

Like any journey, Hepburn is not a solo adventure. It is only achieved through the efforts of an amazing team and our contributors. I personally wish to thank each member for their contribution to make each issue better than the last. And send a special thank you to our contributors and journalists.

So, as another month begins, I welcome you and invite you to read the Dauntless Edition of Hepburn.
