Driven to quality on the city’s doorstep
INSPIRED design and quality fittings are driving sales at a 54-apartment project to be built on the former site of a West Melbourne car rental company.
The Urban Inc. development Alessi is at the corner of Rosslyn and Spencer streets, just a few blocks from the CBD.
Urban Inc. director Tim Gurner said 30 apartments had already sold, with buyers embracing their South American flavour.
‘‘We’ve gone to the next level of quality to attract owner-occupiers,’’ he said.
Timber floors, stone benches, glass splashbacks and Smeg appliances are all on offer.
West Melbourne is a development hotspot, with RP Data research showing the suburb’s median unit price of $535,000 is 6.9 per cent higher than at the same time last year.
This contrasts with the trend across greater Melbourne, where unit prices remained steady for the past quarter.
Building at 485 Spencer St is due to start soon and finish in late 2014.
A display suite on site is open Price range One-bedroom apartments from $295,000, two bedrooms from $435,000 weekends from 2-4pm and Thursdays from 4-6pm.
