CAT­TLE CUTS WON’T HURT

BEEF pro­ducer Aus­tralian Agri­cul­tural Com­pany is not ex­pect­ing In­done­sia’s huge slash in the num­ber of live cat­tle im­ports to greatly af­fect its prof­its.

In­done­sia has re­duced the quota of live cat­tle im­ports to 50,000 this quar­ter, down from 250,000 a year ago. AACo man­ag­ing di­rec­tor Jason Strong says the com­pany’s main busi­ness is boxed meat to South Korea, Ja­pan and other coun­tries. “A de­ci­sion like this will have much less im­pact on us now than it would have,” he said.
